Acolytes are young people in 3rd grade through high school, and minister during services by carrying banners and the cross in procession, assisting with offerings and by serving on the stairs to assist people during communion. Adult leaders to supervise acolytes are also needed. The scripture which presents the example for acolytes is Matthew 27:32, where Simon of Cyrene carries the cross for Jesus on the way to Golgotha.
